Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information BiteChat collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us:
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
- Profile data: age, weight, height, fitness goals, and dietary preferences you enter during onboarding.
- Food logs: meals, photos, and nutritional data you log in the App.
- Chat messages: conversations with the BiteChat AI coach.
- Recipes: recipes you create, save, or share within the App.
We also collect information automatically:
- Usage data: features used, screens visited, and interaction patterns.
- Device information: device type, operating system, and app version.
- Crash reports: error logs to help us fix bugs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalise the App experience.
- To generate AI-powered nutrition estimates and coaching responses.
- To send account-related emails (verification, password reset).
- To improve the App through analytics and crash reporting.
- To process subscription payments (via Apple App Store / Google Play).
- To respond to support requests.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data may be stored on servers located outside your country of residence.
4. AI Processing
Food photos and descriptions you submit are sent to OpenAI, a third-party AI provider, to generate nutritional estimates and coaching responses. OpenAI processes this data under its own data processing terms and does not use it to train its models. OpenAI provides the same or equal level of protection for your data as described in this Privacy Policy.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Service providers: Firebase, OpenAI, and analytics tools used to operate the App.
- Legal authorities: when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred as a business asset.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the App settings, which will permanently remove your personal data within 30 days.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured format.

BiteChat is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete it promptly.

The mobile App does not use cookies. Our website may use cookies for analytics. You can control cookie settings through your browser.
10. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
